the next step

Here's my exciting news... I've been accepted to the University of Colorado at Boulder for their masters program in art history. I found out via email as the Denver team was on our way to Boulder for a day of hiking, ironically. I am so thankful because I know how competitive graduate programs are, especially in really small ones like art history. It's also affirming of my decision to go with the Summit to Denver, because I committed to being part of a team before I heard back from grad schools and had to trust that God would provide whatever was best for the next couple of years. And though it would be easy to boast about this and add it to a list of accomplishments, I'm honestly more humbled than anything because none of this would have happened without:
  • God giving me a passion for art and a vision for what I want to do with my career
  • people who have been supportive of my aspirations - especially my parents, who have been encouraging from the beginning, they went to all of my art shows, took me to countless museums, stood by my seemingly impractical decision to major in art history, and have reminded me to trust God no matter what happens along the way
  • my professors at UNC who encouraged me and wrote my letters of recommendation
  • my communities at home, at UNC, and the Summit Denver team who've been praying for this decision and who've celebrated with me this past week
So now that I've written my Oscars-style speech... I really am thankful for all of you and I'm asking you to keep praying, I'm supposed to hear back from the University of Denver this week and hopefully will hear positive news about financial aid/scholarships soon.
