a rhodo-what?

I can barely believe that I've lived in Denver for almost 8 months. Time seems to have gone by really fast. I started working on this painting when I moved to Denver... and I just finished it over Christmas break. That's what happens when grad school begins, all of those projects just go straight to the back burner. But it finally got finished and that's what counts. I wanted to paint something that would remind me of home and I worked off of some photos that I took when my family and I went hiking this past summer. The flower is a rhododendron, which grows in Western North Carolina and other parts of the Appalachian mountains. Aside from having a really difficult name to pronounce and spell... it's always seemed to symbolize home to me and probably for a lot of other people too since there are annual rhododendron festivals and whatnot in Western North Carolina.

Sorry for the really crooked, kind of bad-quality picture... but here's the finished product.
