green thumb

The seasonal dollar aisle right as you walk in Target always gets me... apparently whatever they're doing in their marketing department is working, on me at least. A few weeks ago I bought one of those grow your own plant kits that come in tiny pots for a dollar. I tried to grow one of these last year but sadly my roommate and I neglected it. So I tried for a little plant growing redemption and bought another one.

The plant in its first home
But the plant started to get too big for the tiny pot it came in, so I went back to Target, and guess what... I bought more stuff from the seasonal dollar aisle. They had pails in different colors (for easter I'm assuming) so I got one in yellow and they also had garden spades. So all in all, I have spent $3 at Target on my plant, which is a pretty good deal I think.

Yesterday I went walking down my favorite trail to find some good dirt to re-pot my sunflower. Let me just say that there is one aspect of gardening that I do not enjoy... worms. I'm pretty sure that I didn't like them before, but I especially do not like them now. Apparently the patch of dirt I chose to dig from was the equivalent of a worm hostel, there were tons of those slimy things. But ultimately I put my sunflower in its new home that is worm free... I hope.

Now I just need to decide on something creative to do with the pail, any thoughts? I might just leave it the way that it is but I'd be up for decorating it somehow if I found an idea that I liked.
